Spielberg

What is his recognisable style? Spielberg stared out focusing on World wars and putting storys behind it linking the two. In saving private ryan he used the setting with World War 2 and made characters behind it with another task to save private ryan. He wanted to create a bond with all of the soldiers and show that they all have something going on besides the war and how the audience can relate to them. He included clips from the actual war as well to show the audience that sense of what it was like when they was there. He used themes such as Hope, War, Freedom. He mainly focased on making films with big budgets with stuff like massive dinosors and time travel. What Themes and Messages his Spielberg Interested in through his films? In ET Steven Spielberg used a small alien to land on earth and ends up being looked after a little boy. The themes we can get from this is Love, Friendship, Brotherhood. It was around this time that many alien films had come out such as Alien by Ridley Scott which gave audiences a fear of these creatures. Spielberg however made a film with aliens in it but showed that our look at Aliens being these beings that abduct us can actually be seen as nice creatures. He showed that we dont actually know what Aliens are like and that if they are horrible beings or not. He gave his audience the message that humans can be friends with people no matter there race or where they are from. The theme of Brotherhood comes in with his other films such as Jaws where 3 men on a boat are getting drunk together and having a good time while capturing a massive great white shark with also shows masculinity and power. He uses this theme in nearly all of his films such as Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers and Back to the Future. A HUGE message from his war films which he used in all of his war films was "For one thing I dont think anybody in any war thinks themselves as a hero". He used this message to show that the soldiers are just like ever day people just doing there job and what they are trained to do. He also used grown up films but made them child like by adding such things as Dinosaurs and making children in them as main parts. "He gave a message of When i grow up i still want to be a director"
