Magical Realism

What is Magical Realism?

Magical Realism is the power of imagination that can been seen as reality through the eyes of the person imagining it. Its an effect that is used to show what a character is feeling how they see things around them. This can only be seen through the characters eyes and no one else can see what they are getting across. It can give messages of child like characters where they are seen as looking old but can have life like images around them.

Why is it used

It is used to convey an escape from the real world that a character can see to try and break free from real life events.

How is Magical Realism used in Amalie

Amalie is seen as a child like character where by we can see her emotions and what she is feeling like through her eyes which no one else can see. Magical Realism is used in scenes where she is to nervous to talk to someone so she turns to water. This shows the nervous and how shes turning into water which is a feeling we get when we are nervous, Through Magical Realism it takes that and actually shows her turning to water.

Another scene would be where Amalie is about to to sleep but with her child like mind she imagines her Amalie toys are putting her to bed. Using Magical Realism we see this as the toys moving and putting her to bed just as she would like to see it.

Where does it come from?

It comes from historical myths from Russia Cuba and India. It started out as a painting in 1925 with a German art critic.

What is recognizable about it?

No one else can see it but it is also seen as a normal emotion or a feeling that the character wants to see that no one else can see. Expresses on what there feelings and position through Magical Realism

Is it a style of a genre? 

I would say that it is a Style that can be used in any genre films.

How is different from a fantasy?

It can only be seen through the eyes of the character and is not a world that people can go to its only a thing that more realistic but only through one character. Its diffrent from fansty anyone can be part of it but with Magical Fanstasy we see only what one character is seeing and no one else can see it.

Its has fantasy elements with the way she acts. High bridity used in comedy drama. it has a sense of mistory because everyone is okay with it. It can lead a story through imagination by showing a character what to do next by seeing what she is thinking and is done though another character.
